A Nation in Need of Blessing - Happy July 4th, 2008

More than any other time in our country's brief history, I think we are greatly in need of Divine blessing.

So may God bless us with: willingness to see the truth; gratitude for all that we have (in a land that began with such a noble vision, we fall far short of it way too many times to note); courage to stand for what is good, not merely expedient or profitable; light to expose and bring down leaders driven by callousness and greed; and humility that leads to renewal and redemption.

I post this song as an entreaty ... Happy 4th of July!

Cool Speaker for June: Brian Clement - Confirms Insanity of Cell Phone Use; Debunks Supposed Hazard of Drinking Distilled Water

I really like this guy, Brian Clement. He is the director of the Hippocrates Health Institute in Florida (originally founded by Ann Wigmore in Boston). Every time I hear him speak, I learn something simple and helpful. He has finally settled for me two issues: whether distilled water is worth drinking (a debate for years in the raw foods world) and whether cell phones and laptops are worth the health risks. Re: the latter, what I suspected years ago -- when I first used a cell phone driving cross-country while moving to Hawaii -- is that cell phones don't belong in the hands (or against the heads) of humans and that laptops don't belong in their laps (!) ... something I suspected a bit too late for my own good.

The time of your life? . . . Hope so.

I really like the gravelly sorta sound of this guy's voice. The song's a bit predictable and poppish ... but it does express just how I'm feeling these days, so figured I'd feature it today. This is the first year I actually like the American Idol winner. His surprised and joyful response when he won seemed genuine, and I think he's got a really soulful voice. (He didn't come to American Idol as a contestant but to support his brother in his bid to win. His brother was eliminated and David ended up going on to win ... in a competition that sort of "found" him. Go figure.)

Full 4-Part Brief Interview with Karen Knowler - See for yourself why she is a fantastic coach!

Check out this 4-part interview (each segment is 8 minutes) with Karen Knowler and see if you don't agree with me that she is a wealth of information AND inspiration for anyone considering embarking on this raw foods path. It's a "whole-life journey" as Karen likes to say ... and it is becoming just that for me. I'm experiencing some radical spiritual and emotional changes (surprisingly), as well as physical ones.

Raw Food Highlight: Nut Milk

RAW FOOD HIGHLIGHT OF THE DAY: NUT MILK

Nut milk is great to keep on hand for those times when you have a craving for "comfort food" but don't wish to satisfy it with something cooked or processed (which -- let's face it -- most "comfort foods" are). You can add a banana or some raw cacao (just a wee bit as it's potent) -- or both -- and whip up a delicious "milk shake" and enjoy every lusciously rich sip without an ounce of regret!

Take a look as Karen demonstrates how to make a simple almond milk with majool dates ... seen here with those yummy figs). --->
