Back from the Raw Spirit Festival!
Don't have time to post on it just yet ... but wanted you all to catch Angela Stokes on CNN. I love that eating living foods is becoming more and more "main stream."
What would be the positive changes to one's body, mind and spirit if "living" food were substituted for the standard American diet (the SAD diet). Does eating fresh, natural foods in abundance -- UNCOOKED -- bring new-found energy and stamina and joy and zest for life? Or is it all hype? What really happens when we let go of processed, refined and animal foods? Do cells really rejuvenate themselves through food that has its life force intact? And how does it change us?

Synthetic chemicals are things that do NOT appear in nature -- thus our bodies do not know what to DO with them ... except to react in "unnatural" ways to them. We cannot escape them all . . . but we sure can cut back on LOADS of 'em!
If you have some time, listen to author Randall Fitzgerald discuss his research and book, The 100 Year Lie: How Food and Medicine Are Destroying Your Health. Randall has been an investigative reporter for the Wall Street Journal and the Washington Post, and now presents this "smoking gun" exposing how food and medicine are destroying our health (and environment)— and what we can do about it.
Could the health problems in this nation -- most especially the obesity epidemic -- have to do not only with the level of junk food promoted ... but the very body-poisoning chemicals they (and even "healthy" foods AND OUR WATER) are laced with??
Don't be discouraged by the facts in the interview, though . . . just do your best in your little space on the earth . . . and one by one we'll wake up more and more people who care. Hang in there to the end . . . it ends on a very positive note! Scroll down to the 7/24/06 show and click on the podcast icon:

Raw "Cheese Its"
1 C Sunflower seeds (soaked 4 hrs and dehydrated)
1 C Brazil nuts (soaked and dehydrated)
1 C Almonds (soaked and dehydrated) 1 big tomato
1 cup red pepper, diced
1/4 C ground flax
1 pinch cumin or to taste
2 teaspoons salt or a bit less to taste
*I added 1 Tbsp taco seasoning
*I added 1 tsp onion powder*
*I added 1 tsp garlic powder*
Preparation
Process all ingredients and spread on teflex sheets as thin as you like. After a few hours score with a pizza cutter and leave until dry on top then flip and leave until crispy (all day!). Then enjoy (with none of the body-killing side effects present in "regular" crackers (white or even whole wheat flour, hydrogenated oils, food additives and preservatives, and even non-food fillers that the FDA allows ... like finely ground wood chips and finely crushed GLASS!)

The book that woke him up was one I read over 20 years ago called "Become Younger" by Norman Walker. Ahh, if only I'd gone raw 20 years ago ... my thyroid would most likely never have gotten out of wack. Ho hum. But today I know the truth ... and it's making all the difference. (I always said I was at least 20 years behind in my development ... so it fits!)
